I actualy agree on this. People who did no made to college in USSR were to the Army. But in US they would be able to go to college with no problem, because college level is very low in US. Most of this people in Russia went to the technical schools, where they learn speciality, like technician and mechanic before going to the military. I'm sure they did not really wanted to go, but they did, and went needed they could fall back on their education of high school and technical school. By the way, army was popular until late 80's. All men went, only that you can concidered to be a men. For example father of my freind, went to technical school, latter in military he repair stratigic bombers, when he come back he work on factory and had many inovations. Today he live in US, and he is best auto mechanic I know. It took him a few days, to learn how to repair US cars. What I mean that there is a lot of smart people in Russian army, that would went to college in US, and if needed they can fall back on their braines and education. There is also plenty of dumb of couse. On the other hand most of the people I know who went into Marrines, Navy and other places from my school, had grades below C average. There were guys who were smart, and they went to ROTC and military schools, but majority do not show a lot of promices in school of being smart, they did play football. In other words people who is going to military as regular recrutes do not show high skill in learning and thinking. I'm sure not al people like that. Some just like military, some need money for college, but I think you understand what I mean. By the way, US army just decide to recrut more school drop outs. It say something about Army level. > Everyone likes to think that their training is mindlessly repeditive, but so > is ours. This is what armies do. Repetition, repetition, and repetition. That even very dumb would learn. > Let's see, massive deception, a huge outflanking operation to bypass the > enemy's main line of resistance, supported by deep airmobile operations, > coupled with extremely high rates of advance that swiftly outpaced the > logistical system. With masive air strikes. Sound like Soviet doctrine to me, or German Blitzkrik. Yevgeniy Chizhikov.
