Iran apparently started a production of reverse-engineered Scorpions,
and a small family of other AFVs based on the same chasis.
The IRIA has never got any M-48s: the try to get some from Italy and
Greece during the mid-1980s was apparently spoiled.
Zulfiqar-2s entered production two years back and is slanted to
replace most of existing types (foremost the older western types).

Bear in mind, that Soviet types are used by the IRGC, and western
types by the IRIA, and that each of these has its own infrastructure.
The local industry proved capable of not only supporting but also
upgrading, modernizing and standardizing what's at hand (for example:
all the Ty-59/69 and T-54/55s are being brought to the same standard,
and equipped with same FCS, so if - then it should rather be said,
that the IRGC operates 530 T-72Zs but breaking down the numbers per
T-54/55s and Ty-59/69s).
