Re: Recognition
Okay here we go.

T-54/55
The T-54 and T-55 are basically the same thing, T-55s are just slightly improved than the baseline T-54s.

T-62
The T-62 is a further step in the line of development begun with the T-54/55 series.

T-64
The T-64, introduced in the late 1960s, was the first of a sophisticated new family of Soviet main battle tanks developed as successors to the T-54/55/62 family. Retaining the low silhouette of the T-54/55/62 series of tanks, the T-64 featured an innovative design incorporating both an autoloader and advanced armor.

T-72
The T-72, introduced in the early 1970s, is not a further development of the T-64, but rather a parallel design chosen as a high-production tank complementing the T-64.

T-80
The T-80, manufactured by Transmash of Omsk, appeared as production model in 1984, retaining the basic features of the T-64 series (including the 125mm smoothbore gun with autoloader). Major innovations included the first Soviet use of a gas turnine engine, providing increased speed and power, and the first use of a laser rangefinder providing major improvements in fire control. It incorporates features common to both the T-64 and T-72, especially in weaponry.

T-90
The T-90 was developed by the Kartsev-Venediktov Design Bureau at the Vagonka Works in Nizhniy Tagil. Initially seen as an entirely new design, the production model is in fact based on the T-72BM, with some added features from the T-80 series. The T-90 features a new generation of armor on its hull and turret.

T-95
The T-95 tank is a new design rather than a new variant of an existing MBT. It weighs about 50 tons and its main feature is its radical configuration with the main armament in a small unmanned turret fed from a newly-designed automatic loader located below the turret.

Chiorny Oriol (Black Eagle)
The Black Eagle is being developed in cooperation with and for export to S.Korea (may not bo the case) and may even feature Korean thermal imagers. It will not be fielded with the Russian Army and seems to be entirely an initiative of Omsk Plant. It originates from the now-closed Nikolai Popov's design bureau at Leningrad Kirov Plant (LKZ) and is now developed by Alexander Morozov. The tank is built on a T-80U chassis and will borrow most of its components including FCS from T-80U.

If you want more info on any of those tank I will gladly post whatever it is you need. Hope this helped :)

Re: Recognition
That's great man!

The only problem is they all (from the beginning to the T-72) look alike to me. I still cant' tell the difference :(

Is there anything particular need to look for?

Re: Recognition
No not really, the T-80 and the BE are the only tanks that have different designs, the T-55 and T-62 look a lot lie each other, and the same goes for the T-64, T-72 and T-90.

Re: Recognition
Ok, did some research and found some major things I can look for:

******T-72 vs. T-64:

-T-72 has 6 LARGE roadwheels instead of the 6 small roadwheels on the T-64

-T-72 has the IR searchlight on the right side of the gun, the T-64 has it on the left side.

-T-72 has a larger radiator engine compartement than the T-64 and the radiator grill is farther back, compared to close to the turret on the T-64

******T-54/55 vs. T-62:

-T-54/55 has a space between the 1st and 2nd roadwheels. The T-62 has the space between the 3rd and 4th, and 4th and 5th.

-T-54/55 has fume extractor near end of barrel, T-62 has fume extractor midway down.

******T-62 vs. T-64:

-T-62 has a straight across splash guard. The T-64 has a V shaped splash guard.

-T-62 has large roadwheels with a space between 1st and 2nd road wheel. T-64 has small roadwheels that are even spaced.

-T-62 has 5 roadwheels, T-64 has 6 roadwheels.

******* T-80 vs. T-72

-T-80 has sideskirts, the T-72 may or may not.

-T-80 has 12 smoke grenade launchers, 7 on left, 5 on right

-T-80 has more distinct gaps between several roadwheels, whereas the T-72 has fairly even roadwheels.

******* T-80 vs. T-90

-T-80 has gaps between roadwheels, T-90 has almost perfectly evenly spaced roadwheels.

Dunno about the rest

Gee I don't feel so stupid now, and I can actually point to a russian tank and say what it is! Woohoo, lmao

Thanks :)
